Seeing Seedlings

The basil seeds I planted on Tuesday came up on Thursday: three days later. The zinnia seeds I planted on Thursday are coming up today: two days later. Woo!

Best of all, the Yellow Pear and Cherokee Purple seeds I planted along with the basil? Several of them are up today, five days later.

It never fails to astound me just how much I love planting seeds! I especially love to do it indoors, under lights and see just how fast everything will sprout under controlled conditions. Outside, the snow has turned into rain and it's overcast and grim, but indoors...indoors I have the very first hint of summer to come.

It's looking delicious!

Here's what I've planted indoors, so far:
  1. Sweet Genovese basil
  2. Super Sweet 100 (cherry tomato)
  3. Yellow Pear (tomato)
  4. Green Zebra (tomato)
  5. Black Krim (tomato)
  6. Cherokee Purple (tomato)
  7. Snow White (cherry tomato)
  8. King of the North (bell pepper)
  9. Sweet Chocolate (bell pepper)
  10. California Wonder (bell pepper)
  11. Brandywine Red (tomato)
  12. Roma (paste tomato)
  13. Scarlet Flame zinnia
  14. Scarlet sage
  15. Silver Falls dichondra
  16. 'Imperial Frosty Cherry' Pansy
  17. 'Sorbet Babyface White' Viola
Outdoors:
  1. Mesclun mix lettuce
  2. Snap peas
  3. Snow peas
  4. String peas
  5. Spinach
  6. Cilantro
  7. Green onions
  8. Parsley
  9. Carrots
  10. Romaine lettuce (in Caitlin's bed)
To think that this is my version of "taking it easy" is...laughable. There's still another month (and a half) before the last frost date. Who know what I'll come up with before then!

I'm thinking our last frost date was a couple of months ago. I could be wrong. But what we receive in warm weather, we sacrifice in changing of the seasons. It isn't very dramatic here.
