Comparing Fingers

Caitlin, at 3.5 months in 2001.Sorry about the picture. My scanner isn't so great, actually.

Emma at 4 months in 2008.

Those are some yummy fingers!

And yes, Caitlin outweighed Emma at the same age. She was a chunka-lunka!

if only everything tasted as good as fingers... (but how do you keep them away from their thumbs?)

Yeah, HOW do you keep them away from thumbs?

What seems like such a good idea at 3 months......

Actually, Caitlin never switched over to her thumb and gave it up when we took her to the dentist at age 3. It took a different authority figure to explain to her that she was moving her teeth out of place and that she had to stop.

So she did. Over the course of the next two months, we worked on it. A day without got stickers, a week without ice cream. It was over pretty quickly and the next dental visit verified that her teeth were swinging back into place.

I was very lucky, I know.

Don't hate me! : )

So for me, fingers were always better than a pacifier and it was less traumatic to stop. I'm hoping Emma is the same.
