Caitlin's Second Jog-a-thon

What a difference a year makes!

This time last year, Caitlin made 1 and 9/10s of a circuit around the track at school for the annual fundraiser before she fell to the ground weeping. I had to hold her hand and walk/jog around it with her. In the end she completed 8 rounds or 1 mile. Remember?

This year?

I sat on the sidelines in a borrowed chair while Eric ran with her the first 3 rounds. It was her decision to run and he had to work to keep up with her! He then sat out for awhile while she kept on going. By herself! Without any prodding or pep talks or anything. I was so amazed and thankful. Eric cheered for her next to the punch point while I sat and tried to shoot a few pictures. This year I remembered to bring my camera. After 8 laps, Eric got up to go with her again.

And she kept on going.

Eleven whole laps! Almost a mile and a half. She was very proud of herself and we were so very excited for her. What an accomplishment. She asked me if the twins were cheering for her when she went around on the 8th turn.

Honey, you bet they were.

Next year, they'll even be there in person to hoot and holler for their big sister and maybe toddle along. Her own personal cheering squad, doubled in size.

Running with the pack.
Coming in for a set of punches. Crowds of parents = difficult to get good shots from a seated position.
So tired!
Eleven hole punches! 2240 yards. 1.4 miles.

Oh yeah, since it's a fundraiser, I almost forgot! If you feel up to it, feel free to drop me a line and I'll let you know who to make the check out to. It's all for her school. Public education is only "free" if you forget about the constant need for volunteer labor or fundraisers to keep the schools running. Thanks!

Do I sense a second (err third) generation Track Star?

She'll make her Grampy proud!

Well, it would only be 3rd if she was Dawn's child. So I think she only counts as 2nd generation.

Grammy and Grampy had mentioned her running around in CB while she was visiting them and Eric noted that she seemed quite a bit quicker than most of the kids around her while they were sprinting.

We're hoping to sign her up with the running club when it starts in another week or so.
